#93 - Ashley Humphrey *

You just got married. It’s the first day of the honeymoon. What better way to celebrate than to murder your hubby’s ex-girlfriend?

Tracey Humphrey and Sandee Rozzo worked together at a nightclub in the Tampa area. He was a doorman and she was a bartender. The two had a brief, volatile relationship.

That relationship would end in Humphrey facing Rozzo in court for battery and sexual assault. Indeed, Humphrey had a lengthy record, being previously convicted of car theft, kidnapping, and aggravated assault. Nice guy, right?

In the interim, Tracey met Ashley Laney at a local gym. She couldn’t resist his charms either, and the two decide to marry (Ashley was just 20; Tracey was 35).

Oddly, the day after they wed, Sandee Rozzo would end up dead in her garage (8 shots, from her head to her foot). Suspicion immediately fell on Humphrey, but he came up with an alibi.

His alibi was backed up by cellphone records, which put him firmly at home. Ashley’s records, however, pointed to her being in the area where the murder took place, and at the time of the shooting.

Confronted by the police, she confessed, stating that he had manipulated her to do the deed. She also confessed to a previous attempt, with a high-powered rifle, that had not been successful.

Accepting a 2nd degree murder charge, Ashley turned state’s evidence on Tracey, who would get life. Ashley’s slated release date is 2028.

#94 - Deidre Hunt *

Kosta Fotopolous, the owner of a Daytona Beach pool hall, had a couple of problems on his hands.

One involved a counterfeiting operation he ran on the side. The other concerned his wife, Lisa, who had just been made aware that Kosta had a girlfriend.

That girlfriend, 20-year-old Deidre Hunt, worked for Kosta at the pool hall as a bartender. Interestingly, she would come in handy in resolving both of Kosta’s issues.

As for the counterfeiting scheme, it appears that one of his employees, 19-year-old Kevin Ramsey, had gotten wind of the operation, threatened to expose Kosta, and was demanding money. Kosta‘s solution was to lure him to a remote location where he tied him to a tree, then forced Deidre to shoot him, videotaping the act.

Kosta then thought he’d try something similar with his wife. Lisa was threatening to divorce him, taking her share of several family businesses with her (he also had a $700,00 insurance policy on her). Once again, he enlisted Deidre’s help, threatening to blackmail her with the tape of the previous shooting.

Deidre then enlisted a friend, 18-year-old Bryan Chase, with the promise of a cut of the insurance money. As directed by Kosta, Chase entered the Fotopolous’s house, went to their bedroom, then shot Lisa in the head. Never intending to pay Chase a cent, Kosta whipped out a gun and shot Chase dead, making the whole thing look like a failed burglary. There were, however, a few details that made the police a little suspicious.

It all fell apart when Mike Cox, whom Deidre had previously approached about doing the shooting (he wasn’t the only one), came to the police. When Deidre was pulled in for an interview, she sang like a canary.

Lisa would miraculously survive. Kosta and Deidre would both get the chair. On appeal, however, Deidre would get two life sentences. Kosta's still hangin' around as well.

Her story has appeared on Snapped & Killer Couples.

#95 - Angela Hill *

Mormons gone bad … Very bad.

Angela Hill (AKA Atwood) came from a traditional, conservative Mormon family. Somewhere along the way, though, things went a little awry.

In particular, Angela got hooked on drugs. She got clean, though, and seemed to be turning things around.

Then she met Logan McFarland. Not only did he get her back on drugs, but the two embarked on a multi-state crime spree.

In particular, they committed burglary, murdered an elderly couple during a home invasion, and shot the driver in a botched carjacking. In the second incident, Angela played getaway driver, while Logan did the dirty deed. In the third, it sounds like Angela may have pulled the trigger herself (though, of course, she denied it).

It all ended with a high-speed chase, then the tracking of the couple through the desert. McFarland would subsequently plead guilty, getting life instead of the chair. Angela got 30, with the possibility of parole after 11.

The couple have appeared on Killer Couples (of course) and Snapped.

#96 - Cynthia Coffman *

It was your typical storybook romance …

Cynthia Coffman met James Marlow after his release from prison, they started smoking crack together, then got married. It was her 2nd and his 7th. In celebration, Cynthia got a tattoo saying “Property of the Folsom Wolf,” after Marlow’s nickname from his previous abode.

The pair would then roam the country, committing armed robbery to support their drug habit. They subsequently upped their game to murder, killing 4 young women in Arizona & California (plus maybe some guy in Kentucky). Typically, they would kidnap their victims, rape them, strangle them, then use their credit & ATM cards.

Cynthia was raised a devout Catholic in a wealthy St. Louis family. Things went south, though, when she became pregnant at 17. Forced to marry the father, she would not stay in the marriage long, abandoning both her husband and 2 children.

Fleeing to Arizona, she took up with a low-level drug dealer. After the pair were busted for a traffic violation in California, police found some meth and a handgun in Cynthia’s purse.

After getting off, Cynthia would later hook up with her boyfriend’s cellmate, Marlow. A career criminal, he was in and out of prisons his whole life. In them, he would join the Aryan Brotherhood and earn himself quite a reputation.

After leaving some evidence at one of their crimes, the pair were identified by the owner of a motel they were staying at in the California mountains. They were actually apprehended while out hiking.

In the subsequent trials, the two would turn on each other. In particular, Cynthia would plead battered woman syndrome, claiming that Marlow “burned her face with a cigarette, cut off her hair, stabbed her in the leg with a knife and offered her sexually to a friend.”

Both would receive the death penalty. And they’re both still around today. Cynthia is, in fact, the longest living women on death row (37 years & counting).

The pair appeared on Killer Couples.
